Surprise for Easter: one more Battalion returns from Afghanistan to Georgia

The remaining service members of the 12 Battalion, I Infantry Brigade, returned to Georgia from the ISAF mission in Afghanistan on May 6. The battalion had served in the mission during the last six months.
The service members were met at the airport by commanders of the Joint Staff and the United States Ambassador Richard Norland. Senior Sergeant Dimitri Tabatadze and Corporal Vazha Tabatadze – father and son – staged a pleasant surprise for their family by not notifying their relatives of the return in advance. Tabatadzes served on the Shukvani base in Afghanistan. Their unit has been relieved in the mission by the 42 Battalion, IV Infantry Brigade.
