“I WON’T FORGIVE PREMIER!”
24 October, 2013
Interview with presidential candidate Giorgi Targamadze
Vazha-Pshavela said: “The future belongs to him who expediently serves the present.” People are expecting the new reality, expedient and effective. Presidential candidate Giorgi Targamadze tells us whether the offer of Christian-Democrats will be efficient.
Giorgi Targamadze: - Ivanishvili has already announced the figures that directly or indirectly are an order for every local-level election commission. The PM’s indication that to win Georgian Dream needs 60% is blackmailing of voters!
Q. – At the meeting with the representatives of printed media Ivanishvili spoke about you too. He said that Targamadze is a model of a traitor; why did he portray you like that?
A. – Saying that for years Targamadze has been working against the state is not only a political assessment but a criminal offense. I won’t forgive it to him. He’ll have to explain these words in court and apologize publicly!
It’s quite explicit that after 9 years of the Saakashvili’s bloody rule we are facing a new type of authoritative tendencies.
Q. – When raiding Imedi TV, the press reported that on Erekle Kodua’s instructions you were safely taken out of the territory.
A. – That night when we were ousted from the studios, for half an hour, in the rain, among Special Task Force soldiers, I was standing in the TV yard. When all the employees were forced to leave the territory, a Special Task Force soldier sat at the wheel of my car and after breaking the door from the film studio side I, Tatia and my friend Gia Guliashvili were taken out. They took me to the Queen Tamar Bridge and warned not to go back. Nevertheless I returned but the Dighomi territory was blocked by the police.
These shameless people don’t deserve my response but still I’ll specify some details: two sources simultaneously, in parallel – Badri Patarkatsishvili and Deputy Interior Minister Shota Utiashvili - informed me and Interior Ministry officially warned that assault was planned to kill me. A three-man group on Tskhinvali territory was ready to carry out this mission. Thus, the attempt of then-authorities is quite clear – to create obstructions for me to meet the people who gathered at TV studio due to injustice and assault on Imedi TV.
Q. – During TV debates there was a dispute between you and Giorgi Margvelashvili. What happened?
A. – When you have an ambition for presidency and a question irritates you, this speaks of two things: one – your nerves are not in order; and two – you have no idea what kind of a person a political leader and especially the first person of a state should be. People should analyze what election of such an unbalanced president will bring to the country.
P.S. We contacted Shota Utiashvili but he didn’t wish to comment on possible assault on Giorgi Targamadze.
