Kutaisi Central Stadium hosted the Europa League first qualification round match between local Torpedo and MŠK Žilina (Slovakia) on July 4. The local team - under coach Gerard Zaragoza - failed to keep the visitors from scoring three times without a response and thus the match lost all intrigue ahead of the second leg.
Following the match, emotions boiled over to the stands, where frustration by the local fans was directed at the administration. Police and special forces managed to contain them near the conclusion of the match. Unconfirmed information was released regarding arrests of a number of fans as police sought to calm the supporters down.
