Georgian tennis player wins WTA tournament first time in 18 years

Kalashnikova won the Baku tournament (235 000 USD) and Georgian Leila Meskhi was a director of this tournament. Oksana and Irina Buryachok of Ukraine were No.2 seed duet at “Baku Cup” and they celebrated four wins, the worldsport.ge website informs.
Kalashnikova and Buryachok defeated Romanian Cadantu and Spaniard Ferrer-Suarez 6:1, 6:2, Belarusian Kremen and Russian Melnikova 6:4, 7:5. In semifinal they won over Czech Pliskova sisters 6:1, 6:4.
The Georgian-Ukrainian duet lost one set in the last match. Oksana and Irina beat Greek Daniilidou and Serb Krunic 4:6, 7:6 (7:3), 10:4.
Kalashnikova earned 208 ranking points. The Georgian is in the 66th place with 1360 points on WTA doubles ranking. Now she will approach Top 50.
In singles draw Kalashnikova lost to Czech Tereza Martincova 3:6, 7:6 (7:1), 1:6 and Anna Tatishvili – to Nastassja Burnett of Italy 2:6, 3:6. In ¼ final of doubles draw Tatishvili and Serb Vesna Dolonc lost to Pliskova sisters 3:6, 6:3, 7:10.
Tatishvili will participate in “Citi Open” (Washington, 235 000 USD). Anna will face Caroline Garcia of France. In case of victory, she will play either Ekaterina Makarova of Russia or Eugenie Bouchard of Canada, the worldsport.ge website informs.
Sofia Kvatsabaia participated in the Horb tournament (Germany, 10 000 USD). No.6 seed Kvatsabaia defeated Caroline Uebelhoer of Germany 6:3, 6:3 and Natela Dzalamidze of Russia 6:3, 7:6 (7:5). In ¼ final Sofia did not show up against Petra Krejsova of Czech Republic due to injury.
