Celebrity women at demonstration: National Movement female members and spouses of party leaders

The female members of the National Movement as well as spouses of the party leaders commented on their participation in the April 19th rally on Rustaveli Avenue. David Bakradze’s wife Maka Metreveli told Palitra TV channel she supported her husband and Georgia’s European course by participating in the event; Member of the party Mariam Sajaia stated Georgia should become part of the European family; Another representative of the opposition Irma Nadirashvili welcomed “the beginning of a new National Movement”.
The protest was also attended by a popular Pianist Khatia Buniatishvili, who said she had traveled from Berlin to participate in the rally. Buniatishvili said she experienced “the happiness of the instinct of freedom” by taking part and was happy to be among the people, instead of on the podium.

Results of NDI’s survey
Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili continues to be the most popular political leader in Georgia, and 60 percent rate the Georgian Dream Coalition as the “party” closest to them, according to the findings of a public opinion survey released here today by the National Democratic Institute (NDI). Fifty-six percent named the United National Movement (UNM) as the strongest opposition party in the country. Ivanishvili scored a 75 percent favorable rating, with Speaker Davit Usupashvili increasing his favorable rating to 66 percent, followed by Members of Parliament Tina Khidasheli, Eka Beselia and Zviad Dzidziguri. Minority Leader Davit Bakradze is the most popular opposition leader, whose favorable rating increased to 48 percent.
