As a result of the auction regarding the right of putting up of kiosks in the Capital, announced by the Mayor’s office, already existing stalls for press distribution are facing the threat of close-down. The auction announced by the Mayor’s office pertains mostly to the places where such stalls are already available.

Joint training of Independent Association of Georgian Journalists and International Federation of Journalists in Batumi

Up to 20 journalists from across Georgia were gleaning their safety skills at the Batumi 3-day-long training dedicated to the professional work of journalists in conflict areas, as well as rules of their behavior and safety. Advance planning of media mission, selection of the correct routes, knowledge and observation of safety rules, knowledge and provision of first aid were on an incomplete list of topics covered by the training.

Shalva Ramishvili, the author and host of ‘Without Accreditation’, the popular program on TV Maestro, was detained by the police at the private residence of the President in Kvareli (East Georgia), and forced to hand over the video camera. In his interview with newspaper ‘Mteli Kvira’ (Entire Week) he noted that the police did not return the microphone and flash cards (chips). ‘I was shooting a video dedicated to the vineyard of Saakashvili,’ – said Shalva Ramishvili.
