A woman in Romania is believed to have burnt several stolen famous artworks worth tens of millions of dollars in her oven.
The paintings, including works by Picasso, Matisse and Monet, were taken from Rotterdam's Kunsthal Museum last October, the Euronews reports.
The woman is thought to be the mother of one of the suspects of the art robbery.
The head of the Romanian museum carrying out the investigation said the ash found in the woman's house is highly suspicious, as it contains material specific to painting.
"What is the reason for tin and lead yellow to be found in the ashes, just think about it...It is an extremely special pigment. It has no reason to be there," said Ernest Oberländer-Târnoveanu, the director of the National History Museum of Romania
Forensic specialists at the museum have been analyzing ashes from the stove since March, and will hand their results to prosecutors next week, Euroenws informs.
