Family of the deceased Mamuka Mikautadze - who allegedly committed suicide on July 7 after he was said to have told his family he had been forced by the police to give testimony against his friend for a case of marijuana usage – said his suicide had been forced. Spouse Zizi Edzgveradze said her husband had been beaten but had not shown his injuries to anybody.
Interior Minister Spokesperson Nino Giorgobiani said a criminal investigation regarding the case was ongoing but no violation against Mikautadze by police officers had been established so far.
