The new Education Minister Tamar Sanikidze told Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili on July 26 government meeting she only intended to leave one person unchanged from her predecessor’s deputies and one head of department.
Sanikidze said she planned to move one of the managers to the position of her deputy and would not bring the previous deputies back, citing “numerous issues” at the ministry could only be solved by “professionals”.
Ivanishvili said the new minister was a “hard nut to crack” and said he had tried to give “political task” to Sanikidze but noticed her principled stance on the matter and would not “enforce” his cadre policy on her, a position Sanikidze thanked the Prime Minister for.
