Singer Sopo Nizharadze sues against “Reitingi” magazine

Singer Sopo Nizharadze announced alongside her lawyer Gogita Gabaidze that she will take the “Reitingi” magazine to court for alleged false statements about her private life.
“Due to the fact that all episodes described in the magazine are false, I will address the court to prove the truth,” the singer stated.
Sopo Nizharadze’s lawyer Gogita Gabaidze said the suit would be prepared soon and would include a demand of denial by the magazine of the published information. apology, and a moral compensation.
“The suit will be prepared in the nearest days, as it is tied to procedures. We will then address Tbilisi City Court. Our suit will demand a denial of the published information, an apology, as well as moral compensation, the amount of which I will agree on with Sopo,” the lawyer explained.
Editor-in-Chief of “Reitingi” Manana Ghoghoberidze said the magazine had been ready to make “clarification” in agreement with Nizharadze and her lawyer regarding the publication, but instead Gabaidze and her client had decided to make the case public.
“We met Sopo Nizharadze’s lawyer this morning and told him that we were ready to make clarification in the magazine to the public that the published information was not a fact but a possible rumor widely discussed in public. He said he would think about it with Sopo, but instead they chose to organize a press conference and announce their decision to sue the magazine in court, which is their right,” the Editor-in-Chief of “Reitingi” Manana Ghoghoberidze said.
Sopo Nizharadze said she would use the compensation for charity.
