The first official trailer for director Todd Phillips' "The Hangover: Part III" has gone online, just one day after an epic "Harry Potter"-inspired poster hit the web. The trailer promises that "it all ends" here, making round three the final chapter in the drunken exploits of Phil, Stu and Alan — played to hilariously vulgar perfection by Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis, respectively, MTV informs.
As the trailer begins, the first sound heard is Franz Schubert's iconic "Ellens dritter Gesang," commonly called "Ave Maria." The angelic rendering of the Schubert classic comes not from an equally angelic singer, but Alan, singing his heart out at a funeral. "My god — he has the voice of an angel," an astonished Phil observes. Stu agrees: "It's breath-taking!"
Seconds later, we're back in Las Vegas, home of the original "Hangover." Stu painfully states that he "swore to myself that I would never come back," and that "someone needs to burn this place to the ground." Good thing Alan is along for the ride, as he answers, "Ooh! I like that!" But one suspects he does not like seeing a man get murdered before his very eyes — but that's exactly what the trio of heroes behold as a gangster shoots a man right in front of them, the body dropping into a pool. The trailer makes quick work of breaking that tension by cutting to Alan, slowly removing a lollipop from his lips, and sensually delivering it to a mouth belonging to "Bridesmaids" breakout star Melissa McCarthy. Looks like love at first sight to us!
The remainder of the trailer consists of quick glimpses at the chaos awaiting our heroes: criminals wearing pig-masks, a prison riot, the devious Mr. Chow in a police officer's uniform, the return of Heather Graham, and another look at the trailer-opening funeral that identifies the departed as — spoiler alert — Alan's father Sid. Alan is also the man who closes the trailer, guzzling a beer and speeding down a highway with a giraffe in the back of his car — a giraffe who, because of its size, cannot clear an overpass, causing carnage all over the road, as if lifted straight out of "Final Destination 2." By all appearances, we are in for a fiery conclusion indeed.
