CONFESSOR WHO WAS THREATENED OF RAPING
25 April, 2013
At one time, archpriest Grigol Gogichadze voiced the will of Sandro Girgvliani’s (divulged criminal case in which Interior Ministry’s high-ranking persons were involved) mother and expressed doubt that Irina Enukidze (Girgvliani’s mother) was poisoned. The archpriest got in touch with our Holding again.
Father Grigol Gogichadze: I called the ‘National Movement’ a Satanist sect. This filthy force almost drew the church to dissidence. They did their best to win over the clergy and blackmail them – they reminded some of them of old sins and human weaknesses, others were defamed and struggle against them began by using the clergy who were implanted by them. The ‘Nationals’ attempted to bring priests to the 19 April action. I know what was going on at that time but I won’t indulge in saying everything.
Q. – What do you mean?
A. – Girgvliani’s assassination, Irina Enikidze’s poisoning. Before death Irina, my spiritual daughter, told me that she wasn’t dying of natural death, that she was killed! Certainly, the Georgian nation can’t forget bloody May 26 either. The prison recordings completely revealed the authorities’ face. But didn’t we know what was going on in prisons? How many inmates confessed to me … I remember that it took me a lot of efforts to make a prisoner, who wanted to commit suicide, change his mind. This inmate was a believer, serving his sentence in # 8 Gldani prison.
Q. – Did you tell the Patriarch about it?
A. – Of course I did. But he had more information than I. He was very anxious about this.
At the beginning, they tried to win me over too, offering many temptations. They wanted to dig some dirt up on me, but after failing, they started attacks…
They supplied His Holiness with false information about me and presumably reproached me for indocility. When a child died of hunger in Variani, I took ‘Maestro’ journalists to the village to record that tragedy; they kept calling and threatening me. Once I was driving my car to Akhaldaba; a black Jeep crossed my way and drove directly in my direction. I saw that there were special task force employees in the car. I was frightened, swerved at a high speed in order to avoid crash and exactly at that time my car overturned. I was saved miraculously. But being frightened, I didn’t disclose all this and said that somebody had cut the brake hoses of my car. At that time, I was receiving anonymous calls; they cursed, threatened to liquidate me. Once they even intimidated to rape me.
Lately they introduced homosexuality to every sphere. Like Communists, the ‘Nationals’ tarnished the church with filth and at that, they did it in a more disgusting way.
Especially, they dealt shortly with those who said the truth. They shot those whom they couldn’t poison; they blackmailed and deprived of all the property those whom they couldn’t shoot. They burnt my farm, didn’t allow me to have trout fishery. I can’t understand it – they had the impudence to ask people to attend 19 April action and support them.

Will Banning Abortions Improve Georgia’s Demographic Situation?
Georgia’s Patriarch’s sermons are of a great public interest. He always discusses topics that are important for Georgia and gives reasonable suggestions how to handle them. The Easter Sermon was not an exception. His Holiness Ilia the Second came up with an idea of banning abortions in Georgia. The topic proved to be important to Georgians as the case was broadly discussed by media. I found articles about it on Radio Free Europe, Radio Liberty and on EurasiaNet.org. The pieces give interesting and useful information, which will help to understand the depth of the problem.
Georgian Reaction
During the past few days the foreign press abounded with articles about Georgia. The New York Times, Business Insider, BBC News and The Economist dedicated their analyses of the developments that recently took place in Georgia. Surprisingly, the predominant topic in the media was the gay rally held in Tbilisi, although the entire country in the last week seemed to have been concerned about the tragic death of Georgian soldiers in Afghanistan. The articles mostly carried information about casualties of the conflict between the two parties – pro-gay and anti-gay. On one side there were the organizers and participants in the gay parade who wanted to peacefully demonstrate their desire to legitimize their way of life and on the other side there was a crowd of young people, inspired and led by the priests who expressed their anti-homosexual position violently.
Isolating Autism?
In Georgia, a lot of people with Autism seem to go unnoticed and undiagnosed. For many Georgian families, having a child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder may not be the life they had envisioned or want to acknowledge. But plans to raise awareness of the complex brain disorder have been recently put into action. Autism is a disorder that impairs people’s social communication due to improper brain development. Though it does affect adults, it is most prevalent in children. According to Mayo Clinic, “children with autism generally have problems in three crucial areas of development — social interaction, language and behavior.”

Georgia Takes on Drugs Decriminalization
Coalition of NGOs appealed to the new parliament with the idea of decriminalization of drugs. Deputy of Chair of Health Committee Koba Davitashvili is the author of the bill that was initiated. The idea of the project is to help drug addicted individuals re-socialize not to punish them according to the criminal code, because “it thwarts the process of re-socialization”. The project has opponents too.

I didn’t go to Church on Easter
My very Georgian friend Mancho, who lives on the West coast, called me up on the East Coast at three o’clock in the morning to yell and complain. And while I was mostly asleep, she managed to convey her frustration in such a manner that I was immediately awake. What had happened was the following. A recent transplant from Zugdidi, a young computer technician had come to Los Angeles. This fact on its own would not be any of our business, but the Georgian transplant then proceeded to make friends with Mancho in a grocery store line.
