Russian market opened for Georgian agricultural products

According to the agency, the Georgian delegation’s visit to Moscow was successful and the above-mentioned decision was achieved at the meeting with the Georgian and Russian sides in Moscow yesterday.
The Georgian delegation, led by head of the National Food Agency Zurab Chekurishvili, left for Moscow yesterday. At the meeting, which lasted for more than 2 hours, the Georgian side talked about food safety state in Georgia.
For its part, the Russian side updated the Georgian delegation on the requirements and regulations which currently operates in Russia.
Zurab Chekurishvili and Sergei Dankvert held a briefing after the meeting and noted that a principal agreement had been reached and the Georgian and Russian experts would now work on technical regulations.
"Working on technical regulations will soon be completed and Georgian products will smoothly enter the Russian market. Russia has only one demand - Georgian products should be in compliance with the Russian legislation requirements", said Chekurishvili.
Russia banned import of Georgian agricultural products in 2006. Since then, the first meeting was held between the Georgian and Russian sides yesterday.
